Held by Instructors of the Italian Sailing Federation, they are aimed at children, teenagers and adults of all ages, beginners with boating or who intend to gain advanced boating experience.

TYPE OF SAILING LESSONS

Individual or group sailing lessons on dinghy or cabin cruiser (€100 per student + federal membership for 3 hours of lessons – with a minimum of 2 students)

Fundamental requirements to participate in sailing lessons: knowing how to swim and be in possession of a medical certificate of sound and robust constitution for non-competitive activities.

Circolo Nautico al Mare of Alassio makes use of the professional collaboration of first and second level national federal instructors, with important technical qualifications and experience in the world of sailing.

The park of Villa della Pergola, restored by the architect and landscape architect Paolo Pejrone, has preserved its original extension and skilfully combines Mediterranean flora and rare exotic plants. This is why it is considered a rare example of an English garden in our country. It is no wonder that the English community at the end of the 1900s chose this magical place as their favorite destination for a winter stay!

Marine pines, carob trees, olive trees, almond trees, cypresses, holm oaks and a surprising collection of citrus fruits coexist with eucalyptus, jacaranda, araucaria, giant strelizia, diksonia plants from all latitudes. Seasonal blooms of tumbergie, spirea, hydrangeas, oleander, bougainvillea, solanum and jasmine surprise and excite visitors in an inebriating journey of scents and colours.

The journey of the senses
Villa della Pergola is a unique place where nature, history and charm merge. The gardens can be visited from March to October: each period offers the visitor a different and incredible show, a blaze of scents and colors that varies according to the flowering calendar.

On the Alassio side, the route starts from the square of S. Croce, located as the crow flies above the small port of Alassio and can be reached along the Strada Romana S. Croce. At the end of the route and having reached the amphitheater, in the Municipality of Albenga, after a short descent, after crossing the modern bridge over the Centa river, you reach Albenga with its historic center and medieval towers. From here it is then possible to return to Alassio by public transport bus or by train.

Historical period

The Via Iulia Augusta takes its name from the Emperor Octavian Augustus, the first Roman emperor, who had it built (although it is probable that a route already existed before) between 13 and 12 BC. to complete the itinerary that connected Rome to southern Gaul. The road, in its coastal stretch that passed in Liguria, made it possible to reach the locality of Arles in Provence from Vada Sabatia (today’s Vado Ligure). Another short stretch of ancient pavement, similar to the one preserved in this stretch, is visible near Mortola, on the border with France. Other emperors, such as Hadrian and Caracalla, took care of the maintenance and reconstruction of the road. However, it must be remembered that the Roman road was the only land communication route that crossed western Liguria until the early nineteenth century, when Napoleon first and the Savoys later began and completed the coastal road, the current Via Aurelia. Obviously, there must have been numerous maintenance interventions on the road over more than 2,000 years.
